The United States has imposed sanctions against four Georgian citizens allegedly involved in human rights violations.

The document reveals that the sanctions list includes the head of the Department for Special Tasks of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zviad Kharazishvili, one of his deputies and “two officials allegedly involved in serious human rights violations.”
In addition, as noted in the statement, the United States is imposing visa restrictions on more than 60 Georgian citizens and their family members, including high-ranking officials, businessmen, law enforcement officers and legislators.
Being placed on the sanctions list means freezing U.S. assets and prohibiting American citizens and companies from doing business with those involved.
