Maritime rescue saves 67 people travelling in a canoe adrift 20 km from El Hierro

Maritime Rescue rescued 67 people on Monday, including two children aged three and eight, who were in a canoe adrift about 20 kilometers southeast of El Hierro.

Rescue sources said the rescue operation began following a phone call. of the boat itself. The Salvamar Adhara headed towards this point and proceeded to rescue the 67 people who were on board the canoe, which was then stopped.

The majority of them (63) are sub-Saharan and the remaining four are Maghrebian. Some told emergency services once they disembarked at the port of La Restinga that they had left five days ago from Nouakchottcapital of Mauritania. There were no transfers to the hospital.
