The name of the most caloric fruits and berries has been announced.

Fruits and berries are considered mainly dietary products, but there are also high-calorie ones.

Oku.Az-As Russian therapist Yelena Ustinova told Gazeta.ru.

He noted that the caloric value of fruits and berries is determined primarily by the amount of carbohydrates in their content: the more of them, the higher the caloric value. Most fruits have about 10 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams. However, bananas, grapes, dates and avocados have more calories.

“The leader among them is the banana, which has about 20 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams. Since the weight of a banana (with peel) is about 200 grams, each fruit contains about 200 calories. Therefore, it is recommends limiting the consumption of this product to those who are overweight or suffer from diabetes, and it is better to choose slightly green bananas, greenish-yellow in color, because they contain fewer carbohydrates and more cellulose,” said Ustinova.

According to the doctor, in terms of calorie content, grapes are next, with about 15-20 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams. Although grapes are high in calories, they have many useful properties. Red grapes in particular are rich in antioxidants such as resveratrol and quercetin, which help the body fight free radicals.

“The third place is occupied by dates, which contain up to 20 grams of sugar per 100 grams. This fruit contains a lot of sucrose, so it is advisable to eat it occasionally, especially if you are overweight or diabetic,” adds the expert.

In terms of calories, fourth place is occupied by avocado, which is characterized by a high concentration of fat. According to the nutritionist, this fruit has between 160 and 180 calories per 100 grams, which is mainly due to its high fat content (about 14 grams per 100 grams).

The doctor also talked about nuts. He explained that when fruits and berries are dried, all the liquid comes out, so their volume and weight decrease, but their calorie content increases. Therefore, dried fruits have more calories than fresh ones and also contain much more sugar.

“Despite their high calorie content, all these fruits are good for health, and even during a diet it is not necessary to completely exclude them from the diet; it is important to maintain moderation,” concluded Ustinova.
