“Most drivers do not consider it important to check the fuel level in their car’s tank, but such negligence can have serious consequences.”
Oku.AzAccording to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, this was noted by well-known Russian automobile expert Pavel Konstantinov.
According to him, it is necessary to ensure that there is always at least ¼ of the total volume of fuel in the tank.
“One of the main dangers of driving with an empty tank is the risk of the car suddenly stopping on the road. This situation can arise, for example, due to incorrect readings of the fuel level sensor. The driver will be sure that he can still move, but in reality the car simply drifts, especially on a busy road – this situation is a test for the nerves and the wallet,” says the expert.
He said that even when he reached the nearest gas station with the remaining fuel, he did not get through without damaging the car.
“Driving on an empty tank will definitely cause the fuel pump to fail. Due to the constant movement of a small amount of fuel in the tank, air will enter the system instead of gasoline, which will lead to rapid wear of the pump parts,” warns the expert.
