Repsol doubles its charging network for electric cars in 2024

Repsol accelerates electrification in Spain and doubles its charging network for electric cars in one year. The multi-energy that directs Joshua Jon Imaz has reached 2,000 operational public charging points by activating, so far this year, more than 1,100 charging stations for public spaceswhich reflects the strong commitment to electric mobility of the listed company which continues to develop one of the most important public charging networks in the country. A figure which comes in a context of slowdown in sales of this type of technology on the Spanish market, with a drop of almost 10% in October.

This was confirmed by company sources, in interviews with this newspaper, who indicated that during this year Repsol activated more than 1,100 public charging stationsgoing from 896 points on December 31, 2023 to 2,000 installations until last Friday, November 15. A figure that more than doubles the chargers installed a year ago, with the launch of nearly 5 charging stations for electric cars per day.

Of the 2,000 operational public charging stations, 805 are located in the gas stationswhich positions the multi-energy company as a leader in fast charging in the country’s service stations, 617 in supermarkets and 578 in parking lots and public roads. All have support, remote incident resolution and 24/7 telephone service.

In addition, knowing that one of the main problems faced by electricity users is that they have to download dozens of applications to be able to plug in their car, the multi-energy company offers its customers more than 2,400 additional charging stations thanks to the interoperability agreements concluded with Waylet, which allow Repsol to offer in a single application a network of more than 4,400 charging stations. Thus minimizing difficulties in accessing publicly accessible facilities.

Repsol expands its charging network

These are figures to which will be added, in the coming months, the more than 1,000 installations rewarded by Adif adding other places of interest for electric vehicle users, such as the country’s main railway stations. Strategic collaboration agreements to which others must be added with significant partners of the market as they are Mercadona, Seur, Bolt, FreeNow, Uber, Alphabet, Nissan and Kia.

“Repsol will continue to develop a network of quality public charging infrastructure at strategic points such as its extensive network of stations distributed throughout the country and complementing it with other points of interest for electric vehicle users such as supermarket parking lots, train stations, public roads, among others “, explain the aforementioned sources to OKDIARIO.

Waylet, the leading application

Through WayletRepsol’s main payment and loyalty application which already has almost 9 million users, electric vehicle drivers can reserve the charging station, check the status, access all information related to chargers – availability, type charging or connectors – and make it easier to pay for charging.
