Madrid city centre nightclub worker arrested for raping young customer

Last Saturday, around six in the morning, a young woman went to the Central-South District Police Station, on Montera Street, to report serious incidents. The girl, who is Irish but lives in Madrid, said she had come to report a sexual assault suffered by a friend, originally from France. They are both 21 years old.

As he explained, that morning, both of them had gone out partying and had entered a place in the neighborhood. There, an individual, a company employee, approached them and invited them to several photos. At first, it seemed to be a simple deference; They even took photos with him, using the cell phone of one of the customers. “But my friend was sexually assaulted,” said the complainant.

The story of the events states that the suspect first tried to overpower the Irish woman. “He grabbed me by the waist and the breasts, but I managed to get away from him,” she explained: “But since he had nothing with me, he went towards my French friend.”

Then, he said, he saw her crying and the victim explained that the individual had put his fingers in her vagina, without her consent. The officers who were taking down the complainant’s statement asked her where the girl was at that precise moment. She replied that she had not wanted to report it, but that she was doing it for herself.

They asked her to call them and that’s how they contacted the woman and sent the Samur-Civil Protection to assist her. The health workers took her to the Jiménez Díaz Foundation, where they applied the special protocol for victims of sexual violence. She and her friend then went to testify at the Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (Ufam) of the Madrid Police Headquarters, which took charge of the case.

The municipal police officers of Centro Sur quickly showed up at the nightclub, which was closed to the public but still had employees inside to clean and cash in, among other tasks. The officers entered through a side door and questioned the manager of the nightclub. They explained to him what had happened and asked him questions about the alleged rapist. And to identify him, the photo taken with his victims a few hours earlier and which was on the Irish woman’s cell phone was essential.

The head of the stand recognized the man and said that of course he knew him; in fact, he informed them that he had already returned home but that he could put them in contact with him via his mobile phone. This is how they asked him to report immediately to the scene and to where he was arrested for an alleged sexual assault. The law understands that this violence exerted on women using fingers or other objects constitutes grounds for rape. The detainee is a 57-year-old Spaniard.

In the early hours of September 5, an employee of a leisure establishment observed how a 39-year-old British woman, who was drunk and leaving another nightclub, was attacked by two men and a woman and dragged through the Huertas neighborhood. They took her to a bank located at 41 Atocha Street.

They stole all her belongings and the woman and one of the men fled. Then the victim was left alone with the other man, who began to sexually assault her, with his fingers in her vagina; but the rapist, realizing the presence of the witness, started running.

After following the sexual assault protocol, it could not be determined that chemical submission was used on her. There is no evidence that the criminals were arrested.
