Chinese coast guard ships have arrived in Vladivostok to conduct joint patrols and exercises with the Border Department of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Primorsky Territory, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s representative office in Vladivostok announced on September 17.
“From September 16 to 20, at the invitation of the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Primorsky Territory, the Chinese Coast Guard ships Meishan and Xiushan are in Vladivostok.” — says the department’s telegram channel.
A solemn welcoming ceremony for the flotilla was reportedly held on September 17. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, several events are planned during the visit.
On July 23, the joint Russian-Chinese naval exercise “North. Interaction-2023” took place, which was held from July 20 to 23. In total, about 20 combat exercises were carried out during the exercise, including artillery fire at sea, coastal and air targets.
