Last Friday, October 25, the 2nd year Infantile students of Marist School of Sarriguren has completed its Learning and Service (ApS) project”Wardrobe change” with a solidarity parade and a second-hand clothing market.
For several weeks, the boys and girls explored the environmental impact and inequalities generated by the textile industry, raising awareness about sustainable fashion and responsible consumption.
The event brought together Xuriñe Peñasmayor of the Egüés Valley, and Javier Villanuevaadvisor delegated to Education, among other areas, to whom we thank for their support and commitment to the project. Their attendance reflects institutional support for education in sustainable and united values, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about responsible consumption from a young age.
During the parade, the educational community was able to see the work and commitment of the little ones, who launched awareness messages on the importance of reduce, reuse and recycle. After the event, families had the opportunity to exchange vouchers for clothing from the market, contributing to a circular economy. The remaining clothes will be donated to “El Wardrobe” of Caritas de Mendillorri.
The project benefited from the support of NGO Setem and Madre Corajepresent at the event with information stands on its “Clean Clothes” and “The Journey of Your T-Shirt” campaigns, reinforcing the message of sustainability and social justice in the textile sector.
This service-learning project is particularly relevant when made by such a young student bodydemonstrating that, from a very young age, it is possible to promote a change towards conscious and sustainable consumption.
