Another earthquake occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone in Romania. The magnitude 5.2 tremors on September 16 were the most powerful this year. They were felt in Moldova and Transnistria, Bulgaria and Ukraine.
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu The earthquake was captured live on national television. The programme he was taking part in was coming to an end when there was a jolt and a loud sound was heard. The faces of the Head of State and the presenter showed slight panic, but they tried to control themselves and remain calm in the face of the table which was noticeably wobbling.
At the time of the aftershocks, Sandu was talking about how she was preparing for the upcoming presidential election this fall.
“We have something interesting going on. This is the live premiere of the earthquake. I hope this is some kind of good omen. Madam President, I thank you for the conversation, for such an unusual ending.” – said the presenter.
