The Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge denies Carlos Mazon and ensures that CECOPI was already aware of the risk of the Forata dam and the situation the DANA and in command of the emergency services since the afternoon of Tuesday October 29.
This was confirmed by sources from the Ministry of LaSexta, who recall that the press release published this Saturday by the Ministry of the Interior of the Generalitat Valenciana refutes the Valencian president by recognizing that CECOPI was in charge of the situation.
“From 6:00 p.m., CECOPI manages the situation at the Forata dam. From the emergencies, the notice was sent to the municipalities affected by the possible rupture of the dam and fluid contact was maintained with the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar, analyzing the evolution of the Forata dam and foreseeing the scenarios that could arise” , explains the Department’s press release.
This comes into direct contradiction with the statement made by Mazón through the social network
For this reason, sources from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge affirm that It is false that “absolutely nothing was done to alert the population” and that it is also false that the information on the danger of the dam breaking only arrived at 8 p.m., as indicated in the ministry’s press release.
At 5:35 p.m. that day, the Emergency Coordination Center issued a hydrological alert in all municipalities bordering the Magro and Júcar rivers due to the increase in the flow of the Magro river, based on information from the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation that 1,000 m3/s could be reached.
This is why, from that moment on, CECOPI knew the risk and was aware of the situation. Furthermore, the same sources indicate that “if the president was really constantly informed of what was happening despite the fact that he was at a meal, then he also knew that there were thousands of people in danger” and They doubt that the alert was sent at 8:12 p.m. when CECOPI was already issuing a hydrological alert at 5:35 p.m..
