Customs officials in Nakhchivan have detained the driver of a truck transporting drugs from Iran to Türkiye.
Oku.Az reports that the State Customs Committee has released information on this matter.
It was reported that a vehicle carrying a load of washing powder from Iran and transiting through Azerbaijan to Turkey took part in the inspection at the “Shahtakhti” customs post of the Nakhchivan General Customs Department of the committee.
During the inspection conducted by a canine service dog, a psychotropic substance with a total net weight of 996.814 grams of methamphetamine, a narcotic of 7.250 grams of dried marijuana and a psychotropic substance with a net weight of 0.060 grams of methamphetamine were found. Two cellophane packages were discovered from the truck.
It should be noted that methamphetamine is included in List I of “psychotropic substances whose circulation is prohibited in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
The incident is being investigated.
