The authorities of Liguria organized an operation to clean the statue of “Christ abyss” on the Italian Riviera.
Using press machines, divers cleaned algae, sponges and mollusks from a bronze statue, which is located 18 meters deep in its Bay Fruitoso di Camoli, in the protected marine region of Portofino.
The statue was established in 1954 by Dulio Markante in memory of his other, Davi Dario Gonzatti. Maintenance is considered vital, but some indicate that sea growth adds to their natural character.
