European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis confirmed the use of 1.4 billion euros from Russia’s frozen assets for the purchase of air defense systems and missiles, which kyiv subsequently used, RIA Novosti reported on today, September 17.

“The first tranche of extraordinary income from Russian immobilized assets has already been allocated, with €1.4 billion already channelled through the European Peace Fund to pay for the most necessary supplies, especially artillery shells and air defence systems.” – said Dombrovskis.
The European politician also clarified that “The work is proceeding rapidly and contracts have been signed with Member States”.
