In June 2023, the world followed the tragic story of a submarine heading towards the sinking Titanic, which suddenly disappeared. For several days they searched for the submarine and its crew, but rescuers only managed to find individual fragments of the hull, which were later brought to the surface. CNN reports this.

The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday released the first official image of the Titan submarine lying on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean after a catastrophic implosion a year ago. The photos were made public during the investigative hearings into the tragedy.
The picture shows the broken tail cone of the submarine lying on the ocean floor. This hull fragment has separated from the rest of the ship, its edges are badly damaged and other parts of the submarine are located nearby. The remains of the Titanic were discovered several hundred meters from the wreckage of the Titanic after a search lasting several days.

During the hearing in North Charleston, South Carolina, which will run through Sept. 27, investigators also presented the submarine’s last communications, recorded seconds before it lost contact with the support vessel Polar Prince. The mother ship’s crew requested data on the submarine’s depth and weight during its dive.
“I lost two pounds,” was the message sent from the Titan to the Polar Prince, hinting at a weight loss for the eventual ascent of the vehicle. A few seconds later a final signal was received confirming that everything was in order, after which contact with the submarine was lost forever.
Search operation
Following the Titan’s disappearance, a massive international search and rescue operation was launched in remote waters hundreds of miles southeast of Newfoundland, Canada.
Despite the rescuers’ attempts to hide the fragments that emerged from the depths, journalists managed to take secret photos of the wreckage. However, the official images have only just been published and neither the investigating authorities nor the companies had published such materials until now.
