The Bulgarian customs authorities seized almost 70 inflatable boats to the captain -border -Opekun and the andevevo since the beginning of 2025.
For the second year in a row, Bulgarian customs – at the request of the United Kingdom – stop the loads with inflatable boats on the border with Turkey. According to the authorities, these boats are used by criminal organizations to spread irregular immigrants through the canal.
“It was found that such boats are used by criminal organizations participating in the movement of irregular migrants to the channel,” said Diana Markova, an employee of customs communications.
Boats are often sent to different loads and pieces that will be collected later by the recipient. “They are sent together with other goods to virtual companies in Europe, without a fixed address, they are unloaded somewhere, and then they collect boats, engines and rescue boats,” explained Knapkanov, the head of the operating unit in Captain Andrevo.
The authorities say that boats are produced in Turkey by unknown companies that will be used exclusively for immigrant trading. In 2024, almost 37,000 people with such boats arrived in the United Kingdom.
As part of the efforts to control the migration flows, London finances the Bulgarian side, providing equipment in the amount of 600,000 lion (about 307,000 euros), such as tools, endoscopes, gas analysts and a lifting mechanism.
According to Bulgarian customs, working with Great Britain saved thousands of immigrants who lose their lives every year, trying to cross the channel. According to British analysis, these companies have damaged more than 18 million euros for human trafficking chains.
