Fugitive from Moroccan justice who hacked credit cards arrested in Segovia

A fugitive from Moroccan justice was located and arrested by the National Police of Segovia. He was the subject of an international order of arrest and surrender, as reported by the government sub-delegation.

The investigation began on August 20, as part of Operation TAZA, opened by the National Police during the verification and study of documents presented to the Foreigners Office of Segovia by an applicant for residence in Spain.

When examining the documents, it was suspected that the applicant was the person for whom the international order had been registered, therefore the information was sent to the investigation group of the Provincial Immigration and Border Brigade, to effectively verify the identity of this person.

The analysis of the documentation made it possible to certify that this individual was wanted by the Moroccan authorities, through an international arrest and surrender order for the crimes of forgery, technological crimes and fraud by telematic means.

According to the Moroccan police, a group in which this person participated had made online purchases in shopping centers in Morocco, with bank cards obtained through hacking, with which they had fraudulently paid for the purchased items, which were illegally billed to the real holders of the hacked cards.

Moroccan police investigations located the IP address and telephone numbers used, verifying the high specialization of the perpetrators and the distribution of functions between them to commit their crimes. By identifying these people, it was determined that one of them was not currently residing in Morocco.

For this reason, an international order was issued that allowed the placement and detention in Spanish territory, in the province of Segovia. Once this person was arrested, accompanied by the police report drawn up, he was placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction acting as guardian of the National Court of Madrid.
