The Mossos d’Esquadra arrested the man who allegedly amputated his partner’s hand this Monday in Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), after going to the Nou Barris police station in Barcelona this Tuesday morning.
The man attacked the woman with a machete, cutting her hand and “seriously” injuring her lung before fleeing in a car. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. and the Catalan police began trying to locate him, while the victim was taken to hospital without fear of his life.
The Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, who was until now mayor of the city, and the current mayor, Mireia González, have severely condemned the event. “I express my rejection of the sexist aggression that a woman from the city is suffering today, sexist violence has no place in society or in the city,” said González.
