Almost three months later double crime in the district of Powder fountain (Girona), two individuals presented themselves at the Mossos police station to surrender. They are two men, aged 23 and 26, who were arrested for their involvement in the death of a man and a woman, on Midsummer Nightwho fled the scene to avoid arrest.
As the Corps states in a statement, the people investigated, whom the agents had already identified, presented themselves to the police stations, accompanied by their respective lawyers. The event occurred on June 23, when, after an argument, an individual with numerous criminal records and still on the run fired an AK-47 rifle at a 48-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, who died shortly after in hospital. He also caused two serious injuries.
The incident, which occurred after a dispute between members of two gypsy clans, led to subsequent altercations. The first was led by the victims’ relatives, who tried to violently gain access to the emergency room, where they had been transferred. There, the Mossos had to protect access. Subsequently, the Catalan police deployed a large force in the neighbourhood where the shooting took place, Font de Pólvora.
In fact, the deceased’s entourage destroyed the house of the alleged shooter, in another nearby municipality, Vila-roja (Girona), where investigators located the weapon of war with which he allegedly attacked the victims. It was a few hours after the suspect’s vehicle was also found. In this case, it turned out to be burned in Mont-ras.
The investigation remains open and secret, pending the arrest of the rest of those involved in the two crimes, including the perpetrator, who used a weapon of war, an AK-47 rifleto shoot the victims. It should be remembered that between July and August, the Girona investigation unit has already arrested nine individuals, aged between 34 and 55, accused of damage and disturbances, after altercations between the victims’ relatives and the alleged author of the shots, a few hours after the events. Among these, “acts of vandalism” in the Sant Joan district of Figueres as well as at the Josep Trueta hospital.
