European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen has announced the formation of a new commission.

Key appointments to the new commission reportedly include Teresa Ribera, Kaya Callas and Rafael Fitto.
“Each member of my team will bring their own experience and vision to Europe,” wrote Ursula von der Leyen on the “X” account.
She noted that 40% of the new European Commission is made up of women.
Teresa Ribera of Spain will be the Vice-President for Competition Affairs of the European Commission. In addition, Lyayen Kaya confirmed the appointment of Kallas as High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Rafael Fitto as deputy in charge of EC reforms.
Other key figures have also been put forward as part of the team revamp: Lithuanian Andryus Kubilius has been offered the post of European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Marta Kos will be in charge of EU enlargement and the restructuring of Ukraine, Austrian Magnus Brunner will be in charge of migration, and Dane Dan Jørgensen will deal with energy issues.
