Hundreds injured across Lebanon in coordinated explosion in search for suspected Hezbollah members

Hundreds of people were injured in Lebanon on Tuesday due to the explosion of wireless communication devices allegedly used by members of the Shiite militia Hezbollah, which did not confirm the information. The Lebanese Health Ministry has asked hospitals to raise the alert level to accommodate the large number of people injured in the explosions that occurred in different parts of the Arab country.

“The ministry asks all citizens with wireless communication devices to stay away until the truth about what is happening is revealed,” he warned in a statement quoted by the EFE agency.

For its part, the Lebanese Red Cross indicated in its X account that its ambulances are responding to a series of explosions in various regions in the south of the country, in the Bekaa Valley (east) and in the suburb of Dahie, south of the capital, all areas controlled by the Hezbollah group.

According to Reuters news agency, the explosions began around 3:45 pm local time (2:45 pm in Spain) and lasted for an hour. It is not clear exactly how the devices exploded or who was behind the wave of explosions. Local media have published videos showing the moment of the explosions.

A Hezbollah source told Reuters anonymously that what happened was “the biggest security failure” the militia has suffered since it began exchanging fire with Israel on the border with Lebanon more than 11 months ago, coinciding with the war in Gaza.
