The Generalitat extends traffic restrictions until Friday due to DANA works in Valencia

The Director General of Fire Prevention, Rosa Tourís, reported on the issues discussed at the CECOPI meeting attended by the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón and the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres. It was agreed to issue a new order of restriction of vehicle mobility.

As detailed by the CECOPI spokesperson, it was decided to extend the traffic restrictions in a new decree which will come into force this Sunday at 11:59 p.m. until next Friday 22 November at 11:59 p.m.

“It is still considered necessary to maintain a basic core to facilitate the tasks of the deployed means and public transport services and to return little by little and as soon as possible to normality. To this end, the restriction is limited, once again, to CV400, CV407, CV36 and CV33“, explained Tourís.

At the same time, CECOPI addressed the assessment that the Department of the Environment has planned regarding the special group for the removal of bulky objects from areas affected by DANA. “They are already 75,000 tonnes evacuated since the launch of this special operation,” Tourís said.

Another action is the evacuation of sludge from municipalities in which – as detailed – “we are working on the ground today”. 130 Cuban trucksafter the incorporation of a new contingent from the Community of Madrid and Morocco. The CECOPI spokesperson indicated that the mapping of the basements and garages concerned continues “to establish the work plan of the troops in collaboration with the municipalities, through the Generalitat and the Provincial Council”.

Likewise, Tourís indicated that the importance of informing populations was discussed that the evacuation of sludge and waste from basements and garages is still left in the hands of professionals working to recover from this emergency. “Firefighters, EMU troops and displaced professionals are the teams that have the capacity and experience to eliminate, according to protocols, this waste,” he said.

The plan that will be addressed for the elimination of this waste establishes two collection points on the surface with the indications that the CSIC has previously sent to us for further processing.
