Eight people were killed and more than 2,800 injured as a result of pager detonations in different parts of Lebanon, said the head of the country’s Ministry of Health, Firas Obyad, at a press conference.
“So far, the Ministry of Health’s Emergency Operations Centre has recorded more than 2,800 victims, of which 200 are in serious condition. Eight people died, including an eight-year-old child.” – Obyad was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
Such actions constitute Israeli aggression, said Lebanese Information Minister Ziyad Makari. According to him, the country’s Cabinet of Ministers came to this conclusion after learning the first results of the investigation into the emergency situation with the detonation of pagers in different parts of the country.
“The head of government informed the ministers about the initial results of the investigation, the cabinet confirmed its condemnation of the Israeli aggression, which is a dangerous invasion of Lebanese sovereignty and an absolute crime,” Makari said.
