McLaren does not believe Red Bull is its rival at the manufacturers. Lando Norris pointed the finger directly at Ferrari and made it clear that they were not fighting against Max Verstappen and Checo PérezThis shows how powerful the Dutchman’s immediate pursuers have been in the drivers’ world championship.
After Azerbaijan, where McLaren took the lead, Lando stressed that he considered Ferrari as his competitor for three races: “Before these three races (Monza, Baku and Singapore) “We already knew that our main competitors would be Ferrari.”
“They are performing well and seem to be our closest competitors at the moment.. So from a constructors’ point of view. We’re probably more worried about Ferrari than Red Bull,” says the second driver in the drivers’ championship.
Celebrate the fact that with this car they can compete in any scenario: “The team gives us a car that can go out and win.”
“Think about the first race of the year, we were behind Mercedes. And now we’re well ahead of them. We’ve done an incredible job to catch Red Bull. To outscore them and outpace them and be the best team in F1 is something we should be very proud of,” Norris said.
Singapore is the next challenge and McLaren and Ferrari are once again the big favourites. Red Bull is always late…and Lando doesn’t even care anymore.
