The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, met on Tuesday with former President Jordi Pujol at the Palau de la Generalitat. This meeting is part of a cycle that Illa has maintained since his inauguration. Last Thursday, he already met with former President José Montilla and, in the coming weeks, he intends to do so with former Presidents Pere Aragonès, Quim Torra and Artur Mas, with the aim of knowing first-hand the work of their offices.
What is not known at the moment is whether a meeting with Carles Puigdemont will also take place. When questioned, the government spokesperson, Silvia Paneque, limited herself to explaining the meetings held and scheduled, without wanting to specify whether or not she would meet the leader of Junts.
Visit to La Zarzuela
Illa will take advantage of the reception of King Felipe VI this Wednesday at the Zarzuela to send a “message of institutional normality”. The meeting, the first of a Catalan president with the monarch since Artur Mas, will serve, according to the government spokesman, to bring this idea back to “normality” with all the institutions and administrations of “the State and Catalonia”.
“This is the best way to move Catalonia forward. “Anyone who has a responsibility knows that the best way to advance the objectives set is to have good institutional relations and to have institutional relations,” Paneque stressed.
