The government opens 44 new offices to care for people affected by DANA in the Valencian Community

“It is a question of strengthening not only proximity but also the management of the necessary aid for all those concerned,” the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agriculture announced on Sunday at a press conference. ‘Supply, Luis Planas, who appeared after the meeting held by the Crisis Committee to monitor the effects of DANA, chaired by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. Planas indicated that in addition, s372 public agents were mobilized and 133 new employees were hired, Correos and Tragsa staff.

Concerning the recovery tasks of farmers and breeders, the minister specified that an assessment will first be carried out to determine the damage caused. “We have approved 200 million euros for all farms that have been affected more than 40% in its exploitation thanks to the result of this DANA. We have already mobilized 140 agroinsurance experts who, thanks to satellite images and field visits, will be able to establish the reality of this damage,” said Planas.

As highlighted, these expert opinions will be processed “as quickly as possible” by cross-referencing data with the Tax Agency and via the Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund. When asked when help might arrive, Planas predicted it could happen in less than 90 days.

After the assessments, the restoration of agricultural and livestock operations will begin. with a budget of 170 million euros, which will be used for debris removal, repair of rural roads, restoration of irrigation ditches, water canals, among other tasks.

Furthermore, a ministerial decree will be approved in the next few weeks of 10 million euros for the installations and vehicles of an auxiliary nature to agricultural activity such as tractors and damaged trailers. Planas recalled that the primary sector already has the first tranche of the ICO DANA guarantee line, amounting to 1 billion, to facilitate the financing and coverage of the agri-food industry and storage facilities.
