Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the world’s leading doctors have concluded that infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria could kill more than 39 million people by 2050.

According to Stein Folseth, a professor at Washington State University, although humanity has made significant progress in the fight against drug-resistant microbes, these advances are not enough.
He explained the disturbing result of the spread of superbugs.
According to expert estimates, antibiotic-resistant bacteria will directly or indirectly kill 8 million people each year.
“To prevent this scenario, we urgently need to develop new strategies to prevent the development of infections,” Folseth stressed.
Using data on the spread of superbugs collected by relevant agencies in all 204 UN member countries, WHO experts assessed how the frequency of disease outbreaks would change, taking into account existing and planned measures to prevent the spread of persistent microbes.
According to scientists, the projected number of deaths could be reduced if drugs or approaches are developed to prevent the rapid spread of infections, such as new antibiotics against Gram-negative bacteria.
