Ukraine plans to protest in Poland over arrest of boxer Usyk

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is planning to lodge a diplomatic protest with Poland over the detention of Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk at the Krakow airport, the press secretary of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Georgy Tikhy announced this on Tuesday, September 17.

“On the instructions of the Minister [иностранных дел] Andrey Sibiga The Consul General of Ukraine in Krakow has already urgently gone to the airport to clarify the circumstances. The Minister also instructed the Consul General to express protest and indignation at this attitude.” – RBC-Ukraine quotes Tikhay.

Usik was detained at Krakow airport by Polish law enforcement officers. The reasons for the arrest were not specified. Later Vladimir Zelensky reported that Usik had been released. Zelensky had a telephone conversation with him.
