Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan is close to ending its relations with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Pashinyan also stressed that Yerevan has frozen relations with the organization because it allegedly threatens the sovereignty of the state.
At the same time, the Prime Minister assured that Armenia has no intention of cutting economic ties with Russia or the Eurasian Economic Union, but will increase trade volumes with the European Union. He said that if the government of the republic sees a suitable opportunity to join the EU, it will not miss it.
In late August, Pashinyan said that Armenia does not intend to take any further decisions, freezing its participation in all CSTO bodies. According to the politician, the Armenian authorities consider this decision sufficient at the current stage.
Earlier in the fall, Armenia refused to participate in the Mutual Action-2024 General Staff exercises with the CSTO Collective Operational Reaction Forces.
