Alaró installed a new sculpture at the roundabout at the entrance to the city enrich the cultural heritage of the municipality. The work, created by the famous Majorcan sculptor Pep Llambiessymbolizes the beginning of a dialogue between art and the environment, becoming a representative element of the spirit of the community.
The sculpture, whose shape highlights the letter “A”, not only represents the beginning of the name of Alaró, but, in the words of Llambias, symbolizes “the beginning of all things» and contains a depth of meaning that extends beyond place.
The intense red color of the piece, according to the artist, “is a red of fire, power and love”, attributes that reflect the vitality and essence of the municipality and its inhabitants. “This city has a time, a space and an existence that give it a unique history and identity,” added Llambias, commenting on the symbolism of the work.
For his part, the mayor of Alaró, Llorenç Perelloexpressed his satisfaction with the installation of this work which enriches the artistic collection of the municipality. “The incorporation of a work by an author as internationally important as Pep Llambies is an important step for Alaró and is part of our ongoing effort to beautify and humanize public spaces“, he stressed.
It is worth mentioning that this project joins other initiatives aimed at recovering and promoting local art, such as the recent restoration of the sculpture of Enrique Broglia on the Place de Sebastià Jaume.
The installation was possible thanks to the support of baker familyowner of the Bànyols agrotourism, which financed the acquisition of the work. With this collaboration, the municipality reaffirms its commitment to cultural and heritage developmentreinforcing Alaró’s appeal as a space where art and everyday life intertwine.
Pep Llambias’ new sculpture will undoubtedly be a point of reference for visitors and residents, inviting everyone to reflect on time, space and the meaning that connects us as a community.
