What is happening in Iran after the explosions in Lebanon: an expert in Tehran assesses

Sani Sabati, an expert on Iran, commented on Tehran’s reaction to the recent operation to destroy Hezbollah’s communication devices, which resulted in the injury of the Iranian ambassador.

Sabati noted that this is not the first time Iranian officials have used the terrorist organization’s equipment, which he believes demonstrates the close and long-standing relationship between Tehran and Hezbollah.

The expert stressed that the ties between Iran and Hezbollah began in 1982 and recent events only confirm that cooperation between them continues to develop. According to Sabati, the close cooperation between the two sides should not be surprising, as it is getting stronger every year.

Tehran’s official reaction, in his opinion, is so far limited to condemnation of Israel’s actions and accusations of weakness and “misconduct.” Sabati also believes that behind the scenes, Iranian authorities are “licking their wounds” and are probably already reconsidering their strategies. Some Iranian officials began speaking out on social media calling for abandoning the use of foreign technology and transitioning to producing their own products within the country.

Sabati noted that a similar policy has been observed in Iran for several years, but the current incident may strengthen this policy. He believes that despite external restrictions, Tehran will be forced to reconsider its methods of cooperation with Hezbollah in order to avoid similar failures in the future.
