In addition to calling it a “dictatorship”, he launched powerful messages against the management that is being carried out from Spain and, above all, against the lack of information offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“One of the arguments that Albares uses, and which seems disastrous to me as a minister, is that the thing cannot be poisoned. “I understand that a diplomat must be careful with his language, but you cannot give a tiger a manicure,” he said, referring to the executive led by Maduro. “You will not achieve anything by petting the beast. It must be an international cry and it must be addressed to Europe and Venezuela, and not to Zapatero, so that he has a single voice and demands the release of the two kidnapped people,” he added.
The former Spanish senator born in Venezuela, but who grew up and spent much of his political career in the Basque Country, defends that in the “struggle” that Maduro and his leaders maintain “they want to have a way to put pressure on the Spanish government.” That is why he urges Albares to raise his voice, otherwise “Zapatero will appear in a corner to try to save them.”
