Netflix Reveals Reason for Blackpink Lisa and Rose Fight

Netflix recently released  Blackpink: Light Up The Sky, a documentary that tells the story of the career journey of the South Korean idol group, Blackpink. The film shows the struggles and togetherness of Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa from their training period to their debut as Blackpink in 2016 and becoming global artists in just 4 years.

But it turns out that not everything is revealed in the 1-hour 19-minute film. Including the story of the iconic friendship of the Blackpink maknae duo Rose and Lisa. Today, Thursday, October 22, 2020, Netflix shared two videos at once that reveal Blackpink’s past before they were as popular as they are now. Rose and Lisa then admitted that they often fought when they first became trainees at YG Entertainment.

The two members born in 1997, admitted that their relationship was not as close as it is now, and often fought at the beginning of their meeting. In a clip that was deleted from the documentary Blackpink: Light Up The Sky, Lisa said that when she first became a trainee, she was immediately given the maknae position based on age. Finally Rose entered as a trainee and Lisa felt her position was threatened.

“I came in saying ‘I’m the maknae’ But then, you came in saying, ‘No, I’m the youngest!’,” Lisa said about her meeting with Rose, quoted from a video uploaded by Netflix Film Club on Thursday, October 22, 2020.  The story continues when Lisa reveals that there was a time when she and Rose had a pretty serious fight. At that time, they were both very angry with each other. To the point, the woman of Thai descent called Rose annoying.

Lisa was very angry and tried to be serious, amid the increasingly heated atmosphere Lisa should have said ‘jjajeung-na’ which means ‘I’m upset’ in Korean. However, she accidentally said ‘jjajang-myun’, which is the name of a typical Korean food or means ‘black bean noodles’. Because the pronunciation of the words ‘jjajeung-na’ and ‘jjajang-myun’ almost sound the same, making Lisa confused and uttering the wrong word.

As a result, the atmosphere that should have been tense because of the serious dispute suddenly turned into a hilarious moment that made both of them unable to hold back their laughter and eased the tension between the two of them.

“We were so mad at each other at the time, but she (Lisa) said that. Then me and her laughed, and we couldn’t fight anymore, then we just walked out happily.” Rose’s nostalgia couldn’t stop laughing as she recalled the story.

For them, these small fights are what eventually make them closer and become friends of the same age who love and protect each other. In addition to the story of their disputes, in this video Lisa and Rose also talk about the difficulties they experienced in ‘culture shock ‘ and slowly had to adapt to Korean culture, this is because both were born and raised abroad.

Currently, Blackpink is still busy promoting the song  Lovesick Girls, which is the title track from their first full album ‘ The Album’.
