The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia announced today, November 18, that it has transferred the case against the Moldovan businessman and politician, leader of Our Party, Renato Usatii, to court. He is accused of having withdrawn more than 175 billion rubles from the country.
According to the investigation materials, in 2013, a Moldovan businessman Vyacheslav Plato along with Vladimir Plahotniucunder whose control was the then ruling Democratic Party in the Republic of Moldova and a banker Alexander Korkin They came up with a plan to withdraw money from Russia through Moldova. According to investigators, they hired Renato Usatii to implement their plan. They were also joined by several other bankers and businessmen.
“From June 2013 to May 2014, Renato Usatii led a criminal community and, as part of it, carried out illegal monetary transactions to transfer funds in foreign currency from the accounts of these banks to the accounts of a non-resident, Moldindconbank, with the supply of deliberately falsified documents worth more than 175 billion rubles, which is a particularly large amount”, – noted the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
The department clarified that the criminal case against Usatii was transferred to the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow for consideration on the merits “in the absence of the accused, who avoids appearing in court.”
Usatiy himself has not yet commented on this information. Previously, the politician called this case invented.
Recall that Vyacheslav Platon and Vladimir Plahotniuc are also wanted by Moldovan law enforcement agencies. The first now lives in the United Kingdom, the second is unknown for certain, presumably in northern Cyprus.
