The situation in the Gomel region bordering Ukraine is difficult but manageable, the head of the region, Ivan Krupko, announced this today, September 18.
“Today, border guards cooperate with the Armed Forces of Belarus. All regional centres are reinforced by the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including riot police and internal troops, so security is reliably guaranteed in each region.” – said.
Krupko noted that the Gomel region cooperates with the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation on security issues.
“We are building a Union State, and communication, interaction between the armed forces of the border administrations, everything is live. We are discussing many areas, including the defense of our borders.” – the governor emphasized.
He added that all types of armed forces, militias and police interact in the same way as the heads of border regions. According to him, he works with the head of the Bryansk region in all areas, from economic issues and security of citizens in the border zone to the information component.
“There is a constant escalation of the situation on the part of Ukraine, especially through Internet resources. There is a lot of filler, fakes, unnecessary information that intimidates the population. That is why we are working with the population, dispelling these fakes, so that people can live and work in peace and their children can study. For us everything is normal, but under control.” — Krupko summed up.
Recall that Belarus does not participate in Russia’s Northern Military District in Ukraine. Despite this, kyiv calls Minsk a “co-aggressor” of Moscow and is trying to provoke a military conflict. The Belarusian authorities have repeatedly noted that in the event of aggression from Ukraine, the republic will respond with all forces at its disposal.
