The regional government will wait for them to be developed, as they now appear to be “outdated measures.”
The regional government does not want to abandon the Democratic Regeneration Plan presented by Pedro Sánchez, which, according to him, appears as an attempt to “control the free press”, Madrid threatens to take the matter to court by appealing, as has already happened with other initiatives of the central government. “Pedro Sánchez has no limits, but in the government of Madrid we are going to establish them”, said the spokesman of the regional executive, Miguel Ángel García.
As indicated at the end of the Government Council, the measures proposed by the President of the Government constitute “a censorship plan which aims to Tell journalists what to publish and what not to publish“This is, he added, “a government that is trying to give cards to good and bad journalists.”
He also believes that “it invades regional powers” by indicating to the regional executive which media can or cannot carry out institutional advertising.
All this seems to the advisor García Martin “one more step to transform Spain into an autocracy” and a step backwards “in democratic quality”, to later point out that “we have lost 20 points in the Freedom House ranking in democratic quality”.
