“Everything is fine here” was one of the last messages sent by the Titan Submersible before imploding in 2023 during an expedition to the remains of the Titanic in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, the US Coast Guard revealed on Monday. It also stressed that the ship had failed previous tests and had encountered “serious” problems on 13 previous dives.
The Coast Guard’s Marine Investigation Board began a two-week hearing into the accident Monday. occurred on June 18, 2023 in which they died five people who were on board of the submersible belonging to the OceanGate company.
Diving to reach the Titanic, which is about 3,800 meters deep, the titan sent a series of text messages to a surface support ship called Polar Prince. Nissen said he was pressured by Rush to speed up the schedules and put the Titan in the water, and revealed that years ago he refused to pilot the submersible because he distrusted the operating personnel.
