Explosions have been heard again in the areas of Dahiya and southern Lebanon. According to unofficial sources, more pagers have exploded as a result of the incidents.

In Horowitz’s view, the operation to destroy the pagers, although not officially acknowledged by Israel, seemed like a preliminary step to a major ground offensive. Its aim was to weaken Hezbollah by destroying its communications and logistics, which could create conditions for further strengthening security on Israel’s northern borders. Also important is the possible return of thousands of Israelis who were forced to flee their homes almost a year ago because of the threat.
Horowitz stresses that the pager explosions dealt not only a physical but also a psychological blow to Hezbollah. Fears arose within the organization that its devices could be Trojan horses, leading them to decide to detonate the pagers before a full-scale conflict began.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant previously stressed that Israel faces threats from several directions, including Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, Iran, as well as regional countries such as Yemen and Iraq. This is confirmed by recent developments, when tensions on the northern borders have increased and Israel has faced new challenges in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Missile and drone attacks have also increased by Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Yemen.
Horowitz also noted that Israel is at a strategic crossroads. One scenario involves reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and stabilising the situation in the north, which could facilitate the creation of a regional alliance with Saudi Arabia against Iran. At the same time, there is a risk of further escalation of the conflict, which could lead to more intense fighting on several fronts.
