The President of the Valencian Community, Carles Mazón, confirmed that he registered death in flooded areas due to violent storm which attacks the province of Valencia.
After midnight, Tuesday through Wednesday, Mazón confirmed discovery of “lifeless bodies”but avoided offering a provisional assessment of the victims or specifying their location, some families having not yet been informed.
“There are dead bodies that have already been found,” said the Valencian president, before adding that for the moment no additional information would be offered “out of respect for the families”, because “There are families who still do not have this confirmation“We can confirm that there are dead bodies in some of the points where the access began,” he added.
Thus, the DANA which is ravaging Spain has already caused several deaths, a number still to be determined in Valencia, to which are added at least seven people missing: one in this same province and six in Letur (Albacete), a town which experienced an intense flood this Tuesday which swept away two municipal agents in a vehicle.
In addition, dozens of people were stuck overnight in different areas of the province of Valencia, such as the MN4 shopping and leisure center in the municipality of Alfafar, in Paiporta, where two Civil Guard agents are still missingor inside their vehicles, as residents of the town of Sedaví informed EFE.
Despite the seriousness of the tragedy, the Generalitat had to alert on various hoaxes circulating on social networks and denied that the unique emergency number 112 had broken down. This number, according to the Valencian authorities, continues to be the valid channel for communicating in cases of emergency.
