He second vice president, José Manuel Caballeroinaugurated the facilities of the new “Francisco de Quevedo” library, in Torre de Juan Abad, to which the regional government contributed financially action on the building, acquisition of furniture and resources, as well as improving its air conditioning.
After congratulating the municipality for betting on this library, the second vice-president explained that the regional government has made financial resources available for the realization of this facility.
Accompanied by María del Señor Fresneda Guerra, mayor of the city, José Manuel Caballero valued this new resource, according to the regional executive.
Gentleman recalled that the Government of Castile-La Mancha will have an IT system for archives and libraries ready by early 2025to facilitate its internal and external management.
This commitment, he says, This represents an investment of nearly 900,000 euros and will make it possible to adequately manage documentary and bibliographic collections, while improving citizens’ access to them.

Also present at the event was provincial deputy Maribel Mansilla, who highlighted the importance of this new space, which she defined as “a fundamental pillar in the cultural, educational and social life of Torre de Juan Abad.” He emphasized that The library is not just a building like any otherbut “a space of knowledge, creativity and learning for all ages”, where children, young people, adults and seniors can benefit from the multiple resources it offers.
The provincial deputy influenced the essential role of libraries in a world marked by technologyaffirming that “despite digital advances, books, the stories they contain and reading remain fundamental for the development of people”. Likewise, he encouraged the Town Hall to energize the space with cultural activities that encourage reading and enliven the cultural life of the municipality.
Mansilla also highlighted the institutional collaboration that made the project possible. “Together we realized that Torre de Juan Abad has a new municipal library, demonstrating that culture is united,” he said.
Finally, as reported by the Provincial Council, it highlighted the historical link between the Torre de Juan Abad and literature, as the place housing the house of Francisco de Quevedo, central figure of the Spanish Golden Age. Concretely, he stressed that “this municipality deserved a library which could not bear a better name than that of its most illustrious neighbor”.
