Representatives of the government and the opposition, after negotiations, signed an agreement according to which the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, submits his resignation, the press service of the Head of State reported.
“In order to preserve stability and constitutional order in the country, in accordance with Article 65 of the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia, I present my resignation from the office of President of the Republic of Abkhazia,” – Bzhania said in a statement.
In addition, according to the agreement, citizens gathered on the territory and within the complex of government buildings must disperse on November 19. In case of failure to comply with this point, President Bzhania will withdraw his resignation.
On November 19, the People’s Assembly-Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia will consider the resignation of President Bzhania and the Vice President will become the acting head of state. Badra Gunbaclarifies RIA Novosti
