Fugitive rappers asked to check for extremism – EADaily, November 19, 2024 – Society. News, Russian news

The All-Russian public movement “Veterans of Russia” appealed to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov and the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin to check the texts of the “Caste” group in search of extremism, and also consider the possibility of recognizing group members as foreign agents.

The movement notes that the musicians participated in an anti-war march in Berlin. During the “Caste” speech, statements were made with signs of extremism and insults against Russia. The musicians are also going to shoot a video for one of the songs, the lyrics of which could be perceived as a call to action that threatens the national security of the Russian Federation.

“We ask you: to check the lyrics of the songs of the group “Casta”, as well as their public statements and actions, for signs of crimes provided for in the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation related to extremism, insults to state symbols or government officials; consider the possibility of recognizing members of the “Caste” group as foreign agents and their subsequent exclusion from the cultural and information space of the Russian Federation; take measures to prevent the spread of dangerous destructive ideas that threaten the unity and security of Russian society”, — RIA Novosti quotes the text of the appeal to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

As reported EADailyActivists drew attention to the group “Casta” after the release of their latest album “New Foreign Rap” in September this year. Already then, the “Veterans of Russia” called for an investigation into the “Caste” and the recognition of all members of the collective as foreign agents.

A week after its release, on September 13, the album was blocked on the Yandex Music platform at the request of Roskomnadzor. The service’s press service explained that Roskomnadzor demanded to limit access “due to the presence in the content of information aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation” in Russia.

Previously, activists asked the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia to review the album of the group “Caste” for incitement to hatred. According to activists, the text of some compositions in this album may contain statements aimed at inciting hatred towards Russia, as well as calls to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
