A 20-year-old man was shot dead on Wednesday evening, September 18 in Marseille, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned from police and firefighters. A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured.
There “shooting” The attack broke out at around 8.30pm in the Cayolle district, known for its housing sales outlets, located at the foot of the Calanques National Park, in the 9th arrondissement, south of the city. The perpetrators are on the run, a police source told AFP.
Marseille firefighters confirmed that they had treated a 16-year-old boy who was in a fatal condition and confirmed the death of the 20-year-old at the scene. The Marseille prosecutor’s office could not be immediately reached.
In 2024, drug-related violence is expected to decline, after 2023, when a record 49 murders were recorded. Since January, AFP has recorded twelve deaths by firearm, most of which have a confirmed link to drug trafficking.
