After several working meetings between the advisor and the first vice-president of the Provincial Council, the The provincial institution will undertake the drafting of the construction project of a second bridge in the urban areawhich will connect the Santo Domingo neighborhood with Miragenil, crossing the river through the area of the Río de Oro and La Carraca orchards. To this end, the technical assistance work for the project led by the head of the road service of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Mateo Navajas González de Canales, has begun.
“It’s a transformative action which will connect the last roundabout of the intersection between Andalucía Avenue and Teresa de Calcuta Street, with the last roundabout of Estepa Street in Miragenil (next to the La Palmera gas station). In addition, a roundabout connecting to the Río de Oro road is incorporated, which will completely improve access to the La Isla neighborhood,” Velasco stressed.

The proposal for the second bridge in the urban area of Puente Genil was already included in the initial approval of the General Urban Planning Plan what is approved in plenary session in 2011although it is not included in the 1991 Plan, currently in force. Therefore, procedures will begin to carry out a specific modification of the General Urban Plan that makes room for this infrastructure.

The municipal government of Pontano highlighted different benefits that this viaduct will offer: will improve mobility within the urban area; will mean a fuel economy for neighbors and reduce the carbon footprint; It will improve the connection with the villages of the south of the urban area or with the urbanization of San Luis; “It will be a development opportunity for Miragenil and will contribute to the protection of the historic center, from which “a large part of the transit traffic” to other areas will be eliminated.
