Now that Red Bull has announced that decisions will be made regarding the future of Sergio Perez After a new disaster in Mexico, his father, Antonio Perez, published on his social networks a mysterious message which smells like a farewell to Formula 1.
Accompanied by two photographs, the pilot’s father seems to speak of his farewell to competition: “Your first race in Formula 1 Sergio Pérez Australian Grand Prix 2011 and his last race Mexican Grand Prix 2024. “His greatest pride is the most beautiful flag in the world.”
“Still together until the end of the film. Thank you Checo Pérez, today you are the most famous Mexican on the planet. You must be very proud of what you have accomplished. Always remember that the worst race of your life was in Mexico when you were 12 years old and you were kicked out of karting in your country in 2022 and look at what you have achieved and the best is yet to come. I love you my son, see you next year in 2025,” writes Antonio Pérez.
And Checo is on the ropes. More than ever. He already said it Christian Horner: “Formula 1 is a business based on performance. “There comes a time when difficult decisions must be made.”
And these “difficult decisions” would be imminent. Some reports said these days that even before the Brazilian Grand Prix next weekend, Checo could lose his place. And his replacement would be Liam Lawson.
Even if the very young driver is also questioned about his last performance, during which he actually met Pérez on the track. Before, in Austin, he had his ups and downs with Fernando Alonso. It’s clear he didn’t come to Formula 1 to make friends.
