The judge in the Koldo case, Ismael Moreno, summoned businessman Víctor Aldama next Thursday, whom investigations into the Koldo case place as the epicenter of the alleged corruption plot. Moreno arranged the statement for this week after Aldama’s lawyer requested the voluntary statement. His client is currently in temporary prison for another cause, known as hydrocarbon fraud.
In the document presented to the court this Monday, the lawyer warns that his client will answer all the questions asked by the judge, the anti-corruption prosecutor and the defense itself, but not those posed by the popular accusations. Regardless, Judge Moreno issued a summons in which he invited the popular accusers to attend the declaration.
Víctor Aldama is the businessman who managed to enter the Ministry of Transport through Koldo García and join former minister José Luis Ábalos. Just from the sale of masks to the public body, Aldama pocketed more than 5 million euros in legal proceedings where the judge found several offenses.
A businessman partner of Aldama, also arrested in the hydrocarbon fraud operation, is behind the acquisition of a villa in Cádiz enjoyed by José Luis Ábalos, according to the investigation. Aldama himself paid 32 monthly rent payments for an apartment in central Madrid to a partner of the former transport minister.
