Could Daniel Sancho serve part of his sentence in Spain? Answer by Beatriz de Vicente

Daniel Sanchoson of actor Rodolfo Sancho, has finally been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Edwin Arrieta in Thailand a year ago. As explained by the lawyer and criminal lawyer Beatriz de Vicente“It is possible that Sancho serve part of his sentence in Spainsince there is a precedent which is the case of Spanish Arthur Segarraalso convicted of murder in Thailand.”

In Segarra’s case – explains de Vicente – he is about to serve 8 years in prison, which is more or less the time limit set by Thai law for an agreement to serve a sentence (and not extradition) to be put in place. A Thai convicted in Spain can end up spending a few years in Spain, being convicted there and vice versa.

In the case of Daniel Sancho, it would be “feasible.” That is, “once the sentence is final – because the sentence is going to be appealed, even if with little sign of success – Sancho could ask after a minimum of a few years of compliance in Thailand “The transfer to Spain,” explains de Vicente, stressing however that it is not automatic. Thailand would have to accept it, even if it would normally accept it.

Of course, the lawyer adds that “the sentence could not be modified by Spain (in this case) but the penitentiary system applied would be that of Spain.” In video we can listen to the information in its entirety.
