Amadou Sov: “New Guinea fights against malaria, floods and deforestation”

“We have projects to solve the problems, but we lack financing.”

These words were expressed by a member of the New Guinea delegation at COP29, the representative of the Environmental Protection Project of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Guinea. Amadou Sov impressions about the conference Oku.Azhe said while sharing with

He spoke about the environmental problems of his country.

“COP29 is well organized. I like how logistics is created in Azerbaijan. I hope that all financial issues will be resolved at this event,” Sov said.

According to him, New Guinea faces serious environmental problems.

“The country is fighting the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria, which kill thousands of people every year. Difficult geographical conditions and poor infrastructure make the fight against epidemics difficult.

Another important issue is the protection of forests. New Guinea has unique tropical forests with many species of flora and fauna. But deforestation and mining for agricultural purposes put these precious ecosystems at risk.

In recent years, New Guinea has also experienced heavy rains resulting in devastating flooding. The government of our country has projects related to solving the problems mentioned above, but we lack financing. That’s why I came to COP29 to look for allies who can help solve our problems,” said Dr. Sov.
