Social Rights approve aid of more than 850,000 euros for the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees

The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday an amount of 860,000 euros intended for the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) and, more particularly, for the disabled population caused by the genocide in Palestine, as announced. Public. The aid was promoted by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda of Pablo Bustinduy.

In this way, the Spanish Government supports UNRWA, whose humanitarian work is fundamental in the Gaza Strip, where it offers most of the assistance to the more than two million inhabitants. In addition, Spain’s aid comes after the Israeli Parliament approved at the end of October two laws prohibiting the activity of this agency in Israel and its contacts or coordination with the country’s authorities, which will directly affect its activity in all the countries of the occupied Palestinian territories.

As detailed PublicThe disbursement approved this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers aims to finance two specific areas. On the one hand, trauma and emergency care, support for limb reconstruction and other specialized surgeries, as well as hospitalization and subsidies for people requiring surgical intervention (orthopedic, vascular and general). On the other hand, offering comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation services at different levels of care, in terms of assistive devices, artificial lameness and equipment.

This contribution of €860,000 is paid by the Ministry through the Royal Council on Disability. The intention is that this contribution will be channeled from Spain in response to UNRWA’s call to fund these two previous concepts with the aim of alleviating the situation of people with disabilities amid the conflict in Gaza and the West Bank.
