Olympic figure skating champion Alina Zagitova has submitted an application for a grant of almost 75 million rubles to the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives for the holding of the Scarlet Sails ice show in St. Petersburg. The application was published on the official portal of the fund.
The application emphasizes that “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Green is a work that has become a part of Russian culture and embodies ideas about love, devotion and the beauty of the soul. Reimagining this literary story in an ice show is not only an opportunity to experience the classics in a new format, but also a way to preserve and pass on their values to future generations.
“The Scarlet Sails Ice Show project is a unique combination of literature, music, dance and figure skating. It will allow us to develop new formats of shows that combine tradition and modernity and attract the attention of the general public to both classical Russian literature and modern performing arts.” — the project initiators are confident.
The authors also believe that this ice show can become not only an entertainment event, but also an educational and parenting tool.
Moreover, 2025 marks Alexander Greene’s 145th birthday, and the exhibition can become a brilliant gift to the author from several generations of readers, emphasizing the relevance of this work.
The target group is “children and adolescents aged 7-16, as well as their parents, lovers of cultural events and all those interested in Russian classical literature.”
The project requires funding of 74.798 billion rubles. If the application is approved, the project will be implemented from January 15 to July 31, 2025.
