“Haber Global” on Azerbaijan’s preparations for COP29: “Work is being carried out in a coordinated manner”

“Temporary modular buildings and tents are being erected in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in the area where the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is the largest international event in the country’s history, will take place.”

Oku.AzAccording to the news, these words are said in an article published in “Haber Global” on the preparations for COP29 in Azerbaijan.

The article states that temporary zones where conferences and meetings of the event will be held are being built in and around the Baku Olympic Stadium, which is defined as the main area where COP29 will be held.

“The construction areas consist of two parts. In total, 110,000 square meters of modular buildings and tents will be located in the 49-hectare area, characterized as a blue zone and which will be under the authority of the UN during COP29.

The grass covering at the Baku Olympic Stadium has been removed and tents have been set up where the main events will take place.

A total of 36,000 square meters of buildings are being built on the 8-hectare area, which is designated as a green zone and will be under Azerbaijani jurisdiction.

The construction of the area, which consists of buildings resistant to water, wind, fire and an 8-point earthquake, is scheduled to be completed on October 15.

“The COP29 process is a process that is managed by a UN-created secretariat. Each year, one country hosts these talks. This year, Azerbaijan was chosen to coordinate the negotiations and chair COP29,” the article says.

“State institutions, businesses and non-governmental organizations of Azerbaijan are working in a coordinated manner for the successful implementation of COP29, which the country will host from November 11 to 22.

Azerbaijan, which is preparing to welcome some 80,000 guests to COP29, and some 40,000 guests in one day, has sent invitations to all countries, including Armenia, with which it once had a conflict. “More than 50 heads of state and government have confirmed that they will participate in COP29, but this number is expected to increase,” it said.
